Each study has it's own requirements. A brief list of inclusionary and exclusionary items are included on this page. Please note that ALL SERVICES PROVIDED ARE WITHOUT CHARGE. Some children may not have an initial diagnosis, and we will work with the child's parent to determine eligibility for our studies.

We use a mock scanner to acclimate children to the scanning process. Here is a picture of Jesse demonstrating use of the mock scanner to our new labmates.

Social Competence Study and NVLD Study

Participants are right-handed children between the ages of 9 and 16. We are interested in healthy youngsters who are typically developing or who have a diagnosis of ADHD having main symtpoms of inattention and mild hyperactivity, an autistic spectrum disorder such as High Functioning Autism or Asperger's, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder. Children with NVLD are also needed for this study. Participants will undergo a brief neuropsychological screening and an MRI scan of their brain.

We are particularly interested in having people of color participate. Participants will undergo a brief neuropsychological screening and an MRI scan of their brain.

Mental Rotation Study

Adults, both men and women, who are experts in either math, engineering or chemistry are encouraged to participate in this study. We also need adults who are expert verbalists, such as Ph.D. educators in English, Psychology, and History. You should be healthy, with no major medical, neurological, or learning problems. You will complete a brief screening of verbal and visual-spatial abilities as well as an MRI scan of your brain.
